“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there “is” such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.”
— Martin Luther King, April 4, 1967

- Dr. Rod Williams, CEO and Dr. Charlayne Hayling-Williams, President

our why

The CWV leadership has more than 40 years of combined experience in the areas of mental health, disability, affordable housing, and community development.  Their work focused specifically on improving the conditions of people with low material wealth, in the areas of policy, academic research, and community based practice.

Over the years, the resilience, and resourcefulness of the communities remained remarkable.  However, the systemic barriers and lack of results-based accountability infrastructure continuously created opportunities for targeted improvements.  As such, CWV was born.

The idea is that approaching the work from a “knowing place,” applying sound data-driven business models, combined with humility, and an unparalleled shared commitment to improving the conditions of the most vulnerable District residents is REVOLUTIONARY.

Being balanced is the essence of BEING WELL

our purpose

CWV is an integrative human services agency in the District of Columbia.  We believe in Empowering People, Engaging Families, and Enriching Communities by providing an effective continuum of person-centered supports. CWV believes WELLNESS is an ideal state of being. It is the likely result of well-coordinated, equitable systems committed to meeting the comprehensive needs of society at large. To that end, our Core Service Agency and Free Standing Mental Health Clinic provide high-quality, culturally specific behavioral health services. In addition, our Disability Services program supports the individual goals of the people we serve in order to improve self-sufficiency and quality of life.

CWV is licensed by the District of Columbia Departments of Behavioral Health, Healthcare Finance, and Disability Services to provide a number of home and community based services. We are committed to providing underserved people with the highest level of care consistent with best practices that are aligned with the principles of results based accountability. Our goal is to reduce health disparities and improve the outcomes of everyone we are privileged to serve. Please join us on our Wellness journey, let’s Empower, Engage, and Enrich together!

Our story is evolving.  We strive to demonstrate what works.  We believe that health and wellness may only be fully understood in the context of one’s comprehensive needs being met…as they define them.
